Transferring iTunes from PC to Mac is a simple process

First, the files on the PC need to be consolidated. On the PC, open iTunes. Click on the “edit – preferences” menu. Then select the “advanced” tab. After that, select the “general” tab. Be sure that “keep iTunes music folder organized” and “copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library” both have check marks next to them. Be sure to check where the iTunes music folder is located. The press “OK.” Go back to the “advanced” tab and select “consolidate library.” All of these changes makes sure that all files are saved in the right locations to make the transfer process easy.Once you have started the consolidate process on your PC, open iTunes on your Mac. First, select the “preferences” menu. Then, click on the “advanced” icon and then the “general” icon. Make sure that both “keep iTunes music folder organized” and “copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library” are checked. Also, make note of where the iTunes music folder is located. Now, close iTunes.Now, you will need to copy your files. On the PC, go to folder where your iTunes music folder is located. Copy all of these files onto a shared network folder or an external hard drive. Take these files and place all of them into the iTunes music folder on your Mac.

This is the last step. On the PC, find the ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file. To find this file, go to “My Documents” folder. Once there, open “My Music” and then “iTunes Folder.” The file should in this folder. Copy this file and transfer it to the Mac. Place the file into the “iTunes” folder. You should see “iTunes library” and “iTunes Music Library.xml” in the folder as well. Remove the “iTunes library” file on the Mac, and rename file you just copied to “iTunes Library.” Be sure to remove the extension.
